My Story: Overcoming Fears to Building my Own Blogging Business.

My name is Matt and this is my blog.

I started this blog in 2022 as a way to share my thoughts and experiences as an IT consultant to help businesses by providing simple, easy to understand information and advice on how to use the right software solutions to grow their businesses.

I now work full time as a professional blogger, reviewing software applications for small to medium businesses that can help them to save time and money, and improve their productivity.

I also offer affordable, one-to-one consulting services to businesses who want to get the most out of their IT investment.

I’m passionate about technology and how it can make our lives better and I firmly believe that the more we understand about it, the more we can use it to improve our businesses and our world.

Here’s how it started.

Working as a carpenter at the age of 25 was a dream come true.

I’d always loved working with my hands, and being able to build things from scratch was a huge passion of mine. It wasn’t always easy, but it was definitely worth it.

Carpentry was hard work, early starts and long days, but I loved every minute of it. I was learning new skills and collaborating with a variety of trades, striving to perfect my trade.

I always loved starting a new project on a new site and working out how to approach it, and then seeing the finished product come together.

But after a few years, I started to get burned out.

The early starts were taking their toll, spending hours each day travelling to and from sites was wearing me down,

Working in the heat, rain and wind can be tough, especially when you have to unload and load all your tools at the end of the day.

Carpentry is physically demanding and can take a toll on your body, so it’s no wonder that I often felt tired and sore after a long day of work.

I would often wonder if this is really what I want to do with my life, and if I’ll still feel the same way when I’m 40 years old.

I started to feel like I needed a change, but I wasn’t sure what that change was. I knew I didn’t want to do this for the rest of my life, but I wasn’t sure what else I could do.

Through Opportunity Comes Success

I continued my search for other opportunities and eventually found a job working with a company that supplied pre-fabricated house frames and roof trusses to builders. This was a great fit for me and I enjoyed the work.

No longer working with tools, I was now able to work with computers and engineering software programs to design house frames and trusses. It was a big change, but it definitely what I needed.

I loved it; it was like a dream come true, combining my love of building and the most cutting-edge engineering software. I was challenged every day and loved learning new things.

After a few years I grew a burning desire to work with software and computers full time, so I started going to college to get my certificate in Information Techonlogy.

I startd applying for jobs in the IT industry and eventually landed my first job as a computer technician working for a large multi-national IT company.

I absolutely loved it, and I knew that this was what I wanted to do with my life. It was a big company which gave me a lot of responsibility and the opportunity to learn new things and progress in my career.

Furthering my Skills and Education

I went on to get further qualifications in the tech field and eventually moved into a consultant role working on large corporate accounts with some of the biggest brands.

From consultancy I moved into Project management. I was assigned to a number of large projects in the finance, transportation, education, and Information Technology industries.

I learned how to coordinate and manage large groups of people and resources through these projects. I also gained an understanding of the value of software and how it can help with organization and efficiency. These skills have been invaluable in my work as a project manager.

Finding the right software solution for each project was critical to the success of the project, and I loved being apart of the design, implementation and management of these software solutions.

I Knew There was More…

Having an entrepenual mind I started to wonder if I could take what i’d learn’t and build my own web and software solutions company.

I started building webistes for small businesses as a hobby and quickly realized that this was something I could turn into a successful business.

I started my own company and began to build web and software solutions for small to medium businesses.

One day my contact expired with the big IT company I was working for, due to financial constraints were unable to renew it. This left me in a difficult position as I had never been out of work for an extended period of time.

It was a big shock at the time, but it was also the push I needed to take my business full time.

Where I Am Today

So here I am today, running my own web and software consultancy company and loving every minute of it.

As an extension to my consultancy I’ve recently started a blog to share my knowledge and help other small businesses succeed online.

I understand the struggle businesses face when they try to adopt new technologies. They often feel overwhelmed and out of their depth.

I know how important it is for businesses to stay up-to-date with new technologies, and I want to help them through the process.

My blog is designed to help these businesses by providing simple, easy to understand information and advice on how to use the right software solutions to grow their businesses.

I understand the issues and challenges they face as I’ve been there myself, and I’m passionate about helping them overcome these hurdles and succeed.
